We had fun planning it, and we hope everyone enjoyed being there. this was a good opportunity for employees and suppliers to get together and have a little fun on a Friday afternoon.We had some great door prizes donated by our suppliers (Tim Horton's gift cards, tee-shirts, golf balls, jackets, hats and coffeee mugs). Thanks go out to General Insulation, Scotia Insulations, Russel Metals, Hazmasters, Hirtle Promotions, AEC Digital, GE Capital and Pinnacle Agencies.We had a draw for 2 "Safety Awards". An Xbox 360 won by Marty Bent and an IPad won by Jason Savoury. We are proud to have employees who have demonstrated such a remarkable personal achievement.Congratulations to the Pro Team in Saint John for the successful achievement of a significant Safety Performance Award for work undertaken at the Irving Refinery. Please see the following abridged description of the actions taken leading to the award:SUBJECT: SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF SAFETY INCENTIVE PROGRAMI am writing in response to your inquiry yesterday about our successful completion of the Safety Incentive Program at the Irving Oil Refinery in Saint John.The success of this program was truly a Team Effort and all deserve credit. A lengthy review and analysis of the entire program pointed out some key reasons for our success: First and foremost is the inherited culture of this entire operation that preaches, teaches and practices Safety as a way of life. Every employee has bought into the program that “our safety culture is defined by how we act when no one is watching”. Our Branch policy that requires each foreman to do a Safety Audit every day, is an important part of our Safety Program. This division’'s policy of putting each and every employee through a thirty minute Hazard Elimination Orientation backed up by the requirement that every field and shop employee is required to complete a hazard elimination report each and every day before starting work, and also, before starting work in a new area if they have been assigned a new work task. This proactive tool has put field employees in the positive mind frame to welcome the importance to identifying and to correcting unsafe acts and unsafe conditions in the workplace. In addition, every day before starting work each field employee must complete a “Start Card” / “SPA (Safe Plan of Action) Card”. These cards must be reviewed and updated after any change in personnel, task or work scope, environmental conditions, or other factors that could affect the safe performance of the work. The main focus of the SPA is on the relationship among the workers, the task, the tools and the work environment. If any of these elements or their relationship changes, the SPA must be revaluated. These preventative actions are important but the number one key to our success has been the total acceptance of these initiatives by the the field supervision. Sheldon and the foremen have bought into these programs 100% and have managed to get the field workforce to willingly and actively partake in all our safety incentives. The workforce has also seen the high priority placed on these incentives by management because every single Hazard Elimination Card, SPA Card, Safety Audit and Job Hazard Analysis is reviewed by management and that every concern regardless how trivial is addressed immediately. The changing way of thinking and the new safety culture has been hard for some of the more senior supervision and some of the younger members of the workforce to accept. The importance of these new changes has sometimes required management to take some rather aggressive action by demoting foreman and in some cases terminating employment. If there is not a strong commitment at the top for the importance of safety on the jobsite, then that all important culture will not resonate downward to the workforce. I am proud of the success in this program and it has proven to me and this team that it can be done and will continue to be the backbone of our work ethic going forward. ENERGY SERVICES

PRO INSUL ENERGY SERVICES:We provide insulation / thermographic energy audit services to our clients, allowing them to utilize incentives and grants from NRCan (EcoEnergy) and Union Gas (Enersmart) programs. We offer additional mechanical insulation services (material / labour) as needed to improve the thermal efficiency of the facility; therefore lowering the ongoing operating costs to our customer. Our goal is to provide specific technical and empirical data evaluating our client’s needs, allowing them to determine which area will give them the highest ROI for their maintenance dollars. Services:Pro Insul Energy Services is separated into 2 phases.Phase 1: Audit: Identify, evaluate, and report on insulation deficiencies.A Pro Insul Audit will: Identify energy losses from faulty insulation systems. This includes un-insulated equipment and the associated costs.Evaluate present insulation systems noting damaged insulation components and under-insulated components.Provide a Report outlining the insulation deficiencies including an accurate quotation to improve the thermal efficiency of your facility based on maintenance priorities.Analyze payback on proposed insulation upgrade projects.Phase 2: Service: Mobilize, Manage, and Quantify insulation upgrades to your facility.After a decision is made to proceed with the project, Pro Insul Energy Services will: Mobilize a team of specialists to plan and execute the proposed upgrades as per the pricing laid out in the AuditManage all aspects of the insulation project in conjunction with your facility’'s management / maintenance team.Quantify the outcome of the project providing a post audit detailing the insulation improvements and present the documentation for the completed project in a format needed to fulfill the requirements for the EnerSmart Incentives. THERMOGRAPHY SERVICES

Why Thermography?Infrared Thermography has established its position to identify potential energy savings in all industrial insulation programs. This is accomplished through identifying hot spots which equate to heat loss in a particular system. Energy costs continue to rise and each BTU of steam should be maximized. The second law of Thermodynamics maintains that thermal energy travels from hot to cold. Each square foot of exposed (hot) pipe emits heat to warm up the surrounding air. This will continue unless the temperature of the surrounding air is greater than that of the pipe. There are scores of areas where this phenomenon takes place in a typical plant or facility.Types of Audits we provide:Personnel Protection Audit: It is well known that human tissue is damaged by exposure to excessive heat. Most Industrial Hygienist’s set the standard at 130-140 Degrees F. It is the responsibility of the employer to provide adequate protection for their workers. This can be accomplished either by physical barriers, or by means of thermal insulation. This type of thermographic audit aims to identify “hot spots” where insulation is needed, thereby protecting the worker as per OSHA guidelines. (OSHA 1910.261 Steam and Hot Water Pipes, 1910.262 Steam Pipes, 1910.147 Control of Hazardous energy)Insulation Audit: There are 3 hazards that a thermographic insulation audit can identify:Missing insulation: the insulation has been removed or the item has never been insulated. As systems are running, the temperatures are easily seen by a thermographic camera. Under-insulation occurs when the outside of the insulated component is still above the recommended OSHA standards for hot surfaces. Damaged insulation occurs when there is water / steam infiltration, or the insulation has settled and cannot adequately provide protection. In other cases the insulation has been crushed through mistreatment, thus limiting its capacity to provide a thermal barrier. Refractory Audit: When the refractory in a boiler breaks down, it can cause significant problems from harming personnel to complete system failure. An infrared camera can spot these issues from the outside giving the maintenance staff time to plan for an outage on their schedule. We provide notification as to what is urgent, and what can be handled at the typical maintenance cycle. This allows the end user the ability to plan and allocate resources in advance. The bottom line with our thermographic audits: They identify potential energy savings opportunities, protect workers, and protect the environment through focusing on the insulation system. This allows for worker protection and helps clients to control their energy costs.

Pro Insul Limited documents, implements, maintains and continually improves a quality management system.Our Quality & Procedures Manual documents our quality management system, and it demonstrates Pro Insul Limited'’s pursuit to consistently provide insulation and scaffolding contracting services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.This Quality & Procedures Manual has been developed to generally comply with ISO 9001:2008. It applies to all our business activities including our business development, estimating and contracting activities.Our Quality Control personnel ensure that the standards set by the project specification are met by checking and recording according to the requirements of the project specific ITP and our Quality & Procedures Manual. The QC personnel provide constant feedback to the Contract Department to ensure that all work meets the required standards.
